Description:
While it has been seven years since my law school graduation, I have been a practicing attorney for only over a year. After the graduation but prior to opening my own law practice, I joined an international law firm where I focused on international corporate compliance. A naturalized citizen myself, the international aspect and interactions of my job suited me very well. After several years, however, I started feeling the urge to become a "real" lawyer and hang up my own shingle. Opening my own practice has been a great experience and definitely an eye opener: as it turns out, being not only an attorney but also your own boss requires so much more than just plain "lawyering". Coming to the office not knowing what each day will bring is definitely enjoyable but also somehow frightening. What is even more frightening, however, is not having anybody to go to and ask for advice. If any of you out there is willing, from time to time, extend a helping hand and share your knowledge with someone less experienced and eager to learn, please do so. It will be greatly appreciated. Being an attorney is hard but being on your own is even harder. That being said, I do not regret my decision: helping people with their legal problems is gratifying. Figuring out different ways to help them is empowering.Contact a member and connect.
